Need help spicing up a drab kitchen? Take some advice from one Do It Yourself reader and create your own decorative pieces!
“My kitchen was so plain and boring, then I made simple solutions to redesign it,” our crafty reader says.
To create similar gallery artwork, start by taping off the area you would like to feature. After washing and priming the wall, apply three coats of black paint, allowing it to dry between coats.
Our reader used two vintage clocks to decorate her wall—but any type of artwork that fits the style of the room can be used. “Some color and vintage pieces gave the kitchen a more joyful and attractive look,” our reader says.
Above the sink, a collection of mirrors is displayed instead of artwork. Mirrors are a good choice when decorating a small area: they bring light to the room and give the illusion the space is larger.
