How To | Decorate | Decorating with Rope
Decorating with rope

Rope adds a chic twist to decorative objects. Here are some helpful tips for working with the material as a decorative wrap for furniture, objects, or architectural elements.

1. To prevent fraying, slightly untwist the cut end of the rope or twine, add a few drops of hot glue, and retwist.
2. To make rope more flexible, untwist it slightly as you bend it around an object.
3. Hot glue is the quickest adhesive to use for decorating with rope. It’s easy to apply just where it's needed, and it dries quickly as you press the rope into place. Be aware, however, that the bond won’t be permanent.
4. To cleanly cut thick rope, use kitchen shears with a half-circle notch in one blade.

• Wall border (hot glue rope 10 inches below the
   ceiling)
• Pedestal of a breakfast table
• Base or handles of a garden urn
