  1. Pin patterns to felt and cut out six pieces of felt to cover a ball. Secure pieces to the top and bottom of the ball with straight pins. Place the pieces close together, align top and bottom edges, and pull each piece downward tightly to ensure felt surface is smooth. Adjust pieces as need to fit the ball (narrow spaces between pieces can be covered later with ribbons) and pin piece edges to the ball.
  2. Cover seams and pins with ribbons cut to fit the ball’s circumference. Place the widest ribbons first, and then top with narrower trims. Center a ribbon over a seam and pin to the ball’s top center. Pull the ribbon down, secure to the ball’s bottom center with a pin, and pull the end back up to the top, overlap the ends, and pin to the ball. Repeat for other ribbons.
  3. Stage a grand finale! Finish ends with seasonal shapes cut from complementary-hued felt or with shimmering arrangements of stacked sequins and corsage pins. Or, just cap each end with a large sequin and a pretty pin.
Pin six-point-star patterns to felt and cut out stars. Place a felt star on top of the ornament, positioning points between ribbons. Secure the star to the ball with pearl-headed pins placed around the star’s outer edges and radiating from the center out to each tip.
