Create your own wall art with individual botanical “prints” that add up to big style.
Tools + Materials
• painter’s masking tape
• ruler
• latex paint
• paintbrushes
• 6x8-inch botanical stencils, available at crafts stores
• spray-on stencil adhesive
• acrylic stencil paint
• stencil brush
• nine wooden 8x10-inch picture frames (no glass needed)
• hot glue or finishing nails.
1. Begin with a freshly painted wall. Tape off nine evenly spaced 8x10-inch rectangles. Fill them in with two coats of latex paint in a color that complements the overall wall color (light colors work best). Let the paint dry thoroughly between coats.
2. Center a 6x8-inch botanical stencil on a painted rectangle and secure it to the wall with spray-on stencil adhesive.
3. Fill in the design using acrylic stencil paint in a contrasting color and a stencil brush. Tip: Stencil paint doesn’t drip because it is thicker than regular acrylic paint.
4. Remove the stencil while the paint is wet. Stencil a different design in each rectangle, and let them dry thoroughly.
5. Attach the frames to the wall with hot glue or finishing nails.
