How to Paint Trim: Step 1

Sand the surface sheen off painted trim. Sand flat areas with a sanding block and fine-grit sandpaper. To sand rounded or detailed portions of trim, wrap a piece of sandpaper around your fingers or fold it into a pad and work the sandpaper as deep into the trim as possible.
