SNIPPING SEAMS
After you’ve finished sewing the basic seams, snip the raw edges of the seam allowance to reduce the bulk and prevent puckering. Here are options for snipping three basic seam types:

For straight seams: Press open the seam, and snip notches at intervals in the selvage.

For corners: Cut diagonally across the corner, then make additional angled cuts close to the stitching line. Don’t cut too close or the stitches might pull out when your pillow is stuffed.

For curves: Snip notches along the curve to reduce the bulk and tension. Use this technique when making bolsters or round pillows.
