Paint A Concrete Patio: Materials

Concrete is a sturdy and durable floor for a patio, but it’s certainly not charming. Learn how to transform your concrete slab into a faux-stone living space.

What You’ll Need:

  • broom
  • water source and hose
  • dishwashing detergent or trisodium phosphate (TSP)
  • stencil (purchased or homemade from cardboard or plastic)
  • exterior semigloss latex paint in black, white, and three shades of taupe (from the same paint strip)
  • paint trays
  • disposable 2-inch paintbrushes (avoid foam brushes)
  • knee pads (optional)
  • disposable gloves (optional)
  • rags
  • concrete sealant (optional)
