How to make this functional dresser desk.

Tools + Materials

  • dresser (with legs)
  • screwdriver
  • rubber mallet
  • wood filler
  • sandpaper, fine-grit
  • primer and paint
  • paint brushes
  • utility knife
  • corkboard
  • spray adhesive

    1. Use the screwdriver to remove the mirror frame. Place aside; remove the glass.
    2. Remove the large lower drawers and pound out the lower drawer rails with the rubber mallet.
    3. Fill any imperfections with wood filler. Let dry, then lightly sand the components and wipe clean.
    4. Prime the pieces; let dry.
    5. Paint the pieces with the desired color; let dry.
    6. Paint sheets of corkboard (or leave them natural), then cut the sheets to fit and attach them to the mirror frame with spray adhesive. Let dry for 24 hours.
    7. Attach the mirror support to the top of the desk using the old screw.
