Good Fortune Table
How to make a good fortune table.

Go back to slideshow.

Tools + Materials

  • ready-to-finish tray table
  • primer
  • latex paint
  • paint brushes
  • sandpaper, fine-grit
  • tack cloth
  • poster board
  • straightedge
  • crafts knife
  • repositionable adhesive
  • fortunes or other paper memorabilia
  • glass custom cut to fit inside tray

    1. Prime, then paint the tray table, lightly sanding between coats and wiping clean with the tack cloth. We used a bright red semigloss latex paint.
    2. Use the straightedge and crafts knife to trim the poster board (we used yellow) to fit inside the tray.
    3. Use the repositionable adhesive (we like OneStik2 by Dap) to attach the fortunes to the poster board, orienting the strips in horizontal and vertical sets to form a block design.
    4. Place the glass over the poster board on the tray to protect your work.
