Tools + Materials

  • feed pans (from a farm-supply store)
  • workgloves
  • saber saw & metal-cutting blade
  • drill & metal bit
  • pliers
  • screws
  • clamp
  • 1. Use the saber saw with the metal-cutting blade to cut feed pans in half. Cut 1-inch-wide notches the full height of the pan and ½ inch into the pan bottom on opposite ends of the first cut, leaving an inch-wide flap along the pan bottom. Use clamps to hold the pans while you cut.
    2. Drill four evenly spaced holes along the flap. With pliers and wearing work gloves, bend the flap toward the top to a 90-degree angle.
    3. To mount, turn the pan half upside down and screw through the holes.
