Jazz up plain wooden drawer unit with artwork of your choice while adding bathroom storage at the same time. This project is a great way to display multiple vacation or family photos without struggling to find places for frames.
Materials:
- One unfinished wooden storage unit with mounting hardware (ours is from IKEA)
- Five color laser prints, photocopies, or photo prints
- Fine-grit sandpaper
- Spay adhesive (we used an all-purpose spray adhesive by Krylon)
- Moisture-resistant spray gloss coating (we used Crystal Clear acrylic coating by Krylon)
Tools:
- Pencil
- Metal ruler
- Crafts knife
- Cloth
How to create bathroom storage units:
1. Position a drawer front facedown on the back side of one color print, making sure the design is centered on the drawer. Trace around the drawer with the pencil. Repeat for the remaining drawers and prints. Then use the metal ruler and crafts knife to cut out the images along the traced pencil marks. Lightly sand the face of each drawer. Wipe clean with the dry cloth.
2. One at a time, lightly spray the back of each image with adhesive. Be sure to work in a well-ventilated room and protect your work surface from overspray. After spraying, press the print into place on the drawer front. Smooth out any bubbles with your fingers. Repeat with the other drawers and allow them to dry.
3. When prints have dried, spray each with the gloss coating, following manufacturer instructions. Allow to dry. Using the provided mounting hardware, hang the storage unit. Place the drawers in slots.
