Storage Tip of The WeeK
Savvy Shoe Storage
Entryway Storage Solution

Turn a pile of shoes into an organized (and attractive!) tower using a repurposed fleamarket bin!

What You’ll Need:
  • Wooden crate
  • Sandpaper
  • Weather-resistant varnish
  • Paintbrushes
  • Nameplates
  • Wood glue

To create this smart storage unit, you first need to find an old bin—a fleamarket or tag sale are great places to hunt.  Next, gently sand any sharp or uneven edges. Wipe down the entire bin and apply two coats of weather-resistant varnish to the surface, allowing it to dry between coats. Don’t miss a spot—the varnish will protect the crate from wet shoes.

Finally, create nameplates for each set of slots. You can use scrapbook paper, stickers—the possibilities are endless. Attach them using wood glue once the varnish has dried.
