Plate-Rail Topper
Display pretty dishware above a window.

Create a substantial plate rail to top a window using a 1x4 cut slightly wider than the window frame. For added detail, decorate the top and bottom of the rail with thin molding strips. To attach, screw through the rail into the top of the window frame; hide the seam with dentil-style molding. To create charming anchors for a dotted swiss valance, evenly space glass drawer knobs as pegs.
