Metal-Button Trim
Punch up the hem of a window shade with extra-large metal buttons.

Evenly space and stitch the buttons along the hem. "If you're a no-sew gal like me, use wire cutters to remove the button shanks and glue the buttons to the fabric," editor Kelly Rawlings says. Kelly likes to use just a dab of polyurethane adhesive, then clamp each button with a clothespin to keep it in place while the glue cures.
