We repurposed and updated a few items to make art and decorative knobs. The enlarged recipes are favorites from a vintage cookbook. The knobs are simple wood models we painted and embellished.
Recipe Art Vintage cookbook recipes enlarged on a photocopier and printed on white card stock tantalize the eyes as well as the palate. (And we got a laugh from the lines, “All men like chocolate cake. Try this for your favorite man.” We actually prefer having him make us cake.) We glued the recipes into fluted tart tins and glazed them with a spray of polyurethane sealer to make $59 custom wall art.
Embellished Knobs A mix of ingredients yields a charming set of knobs for only $30. After spraying the wood knobs white, we used polyurethane glue to layer a metal washer from a hardware store and a typewriter key tack from a scrapbook store onto each. A rubber band clamped around the assembly kept the items secure while the glue cured.
